About the Role:
As an Occupational Therapist with VisAbility and Kites WA, you will provide evidence-based therapy services to support children with low or no vision. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help children build independence and participation in everyday activities such as play, learning, mealtimes, self-regulation, social skills, fine motor development and self-care. In partnership with families and caregivers, you will deliver person-centred supports in children’s natural learning environments to achieve meaningful outcomes.
Key responsibilities:
Manage a varied caseload of clients aligned with service guidelines and external agency requirements
Deliver individual and group-based assessments, interventions, and evaluations
Assess for and prescribe equipment when required
Act as Key Contact for clients, fostering strong and supportive relationships
Collaborate closely with team members, families, carers, educators, and other professionals to achieve client outcomes
Recommend assistive technologies where needed and appropriate
Maintain accurate client records and documentation
Monitor service quality and provide feedback for continuous improvement
Mentor students and contribute to the growth of the profession
Support and champion person- and family-centred practices
Ensure adherence to the policies, procedures, standards and relevant contractual obligations.
Undertake the supervision, coaching and mentoring of students as directed.
Keep updated on the latest development in Occupational Therapy practices.
Escalate service-related issues to the Manager in a timely manner.
Other duties as required by the Manager.
Skills and Experiences:
Essential Skills and Attributes:
Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy or equivalent and current registration with APHRA
Proven ability to manage a caseload and deliver timely, effective therapy
Solid understanding of disability services, person-centred practices, and NDIS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Confident working within an interdisciplinary team
Strong administrative and time management abilities
Willingness to travel for client appointments
Independent, yet excellent team member
Understanding of funding models, specifically the NDIS
Desirable Skills and Attributes:
Experience providing paediatric disability occupational therapy services
Experience delivering Positive Behaviour Support.

Working with Children Check
Valid WA Driver’s licence
Registration: AHPRA Registration
Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) or equivalent
