About the Role
We are seeking an Australian qualified and 3 years experienced Junior Engineer to join our growing team in South Melbourne. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical building services projects while working closely with clients, architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Design electrical systems for commercial, residential, educational, healthcare, and government projects.
- Prepare electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Design and coordinate power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, communications, security, and fire detection systems.
- Conduct site inspections, surveys, and assessments to identify project requirements and constraints.
- Perform electrical load calculations and equipment selection.
- Ensure designs comply with the National Construction Code (NCC), Australian Standards, and client requirements.
- Coordinate electrical services with architectural, mechanical, hydraulic, civil, and structural disciplines.
- Attend project meetings and liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and project handover phases.
- Review project documentation and undertake quality assurance checks to ensure compliance and project success.
Essential Requirements
- Australian locally Qualified Degree in Engineering from a reputed university
- 3 years local australian work experience as a Junior Engineer in a similar industry
- Demonstrated experience in electrical building services design.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC, and electrical engineering principles.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
Desirable Requirements
- Membership or eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia.
- Experience in lighting design, power systems, fire detection, security, and communications systems.
- Experience working on education, healthcare, commercial, residential, or government projects.
- Familiarity with ETAP or similar electrical analysis software.
