We're seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Victorian Cardiology team on a part-time basis.
As a valued member of our multidisciplinary service, you will deliver exceptional clinical and administrative patient care while supporting our cardiology, heart failure, and Cardiac CT services. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced cardiac nurse who is passionate about improving patient outcomes and delivering compassionate, evidence-based care.
What You'll Do
- Work within our team-based care clinics to coordinate and support the management of patients with heart failure and other cardiac conditions.
- Use a systematic, empathetic, and evidence-based approach to improve patient outcomes and enhance the patient experience.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and provide education and support to patients and their families.
- Initiate and evaluate evidence-based medical therapies in collaboration with our cardiologist team.
- Prepare comprehensive, medically accurate correspondence for referring practitioners.
- Provide telephone support for patients and families between clinic appointments.
- Facilitate effective communication with cardiologists, cardiac physiologists, nursing colleagues, and administrative teams to deliver best-practice patient care.
- Work across multiple Victorian sites as required.
- Provide nursing support within the Cardiac CT service, including patient preparation, peripheral intravenous cannulation, ECG lead placement and preparation for cardiac CT imaging, patient monitoring, and post-procedure care.
- Assess patients for contraindications to contrast administration, including identifying patients with a history of contrast allergy or increased risk of adverse reactions.
- Recognise and support the management of contrast reactions in accordance with established protocols and in collaboration with the clinical team.
- Participate in ongoing education and competency development in Cardiac CT nursing practices.
Who You Are
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- Minimum five years of nursing experience in cardiology, intensive care, emergency nursing, or a closely related acute care setting.
- Strong cardiac nursing background, with heart failure experience highly regarded.
- Demonstrated advanced clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- A commitment to developing specialist knowledge in heart failure management and evidence-based cardiac care.
- A strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient-focused care.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Well-developed analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Competency in peripheral intravenous cannulation.
- An interest in Cardiac CT nursing, including patient preparation, ECG gating procedures, contrast allergy assessment, and recognition and management of contrast reactions. Previous Cardiac CT experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification is desirable but not essential.
