Trainee Memorial Inscription Specialist & Installer – Vinyl Cutting & Sandblasting
European Monuments, a licensed memorial and headstone business serving Sydney, Wollongong and outer Sydney regions, is looking for a motivated student or person interested in joining a new trade to join our team. This hands-on dual role requires producing headstone inscriptions and installing them on-site.
You'll work across two key areas: using Roland Cut Studio software and vinyl cutting equipment to create precise stencils for headstone inscriptions, and then sandblasting those inscriptions onto memorials — either in our factory or directly at the cemetery. This is meaningful, trade-based work where your output directly supports families in honouring their loved ones.
What you'll be doing:
- Setting up and operating a Roland vinyl cutter using Cut Studio software
- Designing and formatting text layouts for headstone inscriptions
- Preparing and applying vinyl stencils ready for sandblasting
- Operating sandblasting equipment to engrave inscriptions onto headstones
- Travelling to cemeteries across Sydney, Wollongong and out Sydney regions to carry out on-site installations
- Handling and transporting memorial products safely and respectfully
- Working closely with our team to ensure accuracy and quality on every piece
What we're looking for:
- A student (school leaver, TAFE, or university) or a person interested in learning a new tradewith an interest in design, signage, trades, or graphic production
- Current, valid Australian driver's licence — essential (travel to cemetery sites is a core part of this role)
- Comfortable learning new software — prior experience with vinyl cutters or design programs (CorelDRAW, Illustrator, Cut Studio) is a bonus but not essential
- Physically capable and comfortable working with sandblasting equipment and handling heavy memorial products
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy — this work matters deeply to grieving families
- Reliable, punctual, professional in manner, and willing to learn a trade-based skill
- Based in Sydney, able to travel to the Wollongong and outer Sydney regions.
What's on offer:
- Commence part-time, 2–3 days per week with flexibility around study commitments with the view to transition to full time.
- Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience
- Genuine on-the-job training in vinyl cutting, sandblasting, and memorial installation
- Real, transferable trade skills in a respected local business
