POSITION: DESIGN AND SERVICE ENGINEER
We are looking for a full-time Design and Service Engineer based in Queensland to join our Engineering team. This is a hybrid role which split between mechanical/CNC design work and hands-on field service. Whilst you'll design and develop the CNC (Computer Numerical Control) / CAM (Computer Aided Manufacture) software & mechanical systems for our Laser & Plasma Cutting Machines, you will also provide technical service including installation, maintenance, retrofit, troubleshooting, repairs and customer support.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Initiate new product development and design, focusing on cost reduction, quality improvements and reduced manufacturing lead times.
· Mechanical design and detailed drawings and BOM of all aspects of manufacturing CNC Laser & Plasma cutting machines including pneumatic & gas schematics.
· Management of technical documents including drawings, design etc., ensuring the company's intellectual property is protected properly.
· Provide assistance to and liaison with Manufacturing Department with the development of new products and the manufacturing process.
· Develop & maintain the CNC (Computer Numerical Control) system & CAM (Computer Aided Manufacture) software operating on the Laser & Plasma Cutting Machine.
· Provide assistance with the Service Department in regard to installation, commission, upgrades, repairs, testing & maintenance of CNC Laser & Plasma cutting Machine at customer site.
· Providing customer training & support both in person and via the phone.
· Responding to customer issues, collaborate with Engineering Team to identify faults and improvement ideas to provide high quality solution to our customers.
· Maintain and ensure all serviced equipment, spare parts meet safety and compliance requirements
· Compiling installation document and service reports accurately, complete expense and weekly time reports
· Willingness to travel away from home inter-state and intra-state frequently
MAIN TASKS
Works collaboratively with internal engineering team, you will design & maintain CNC Laser & Plasma Cutting Machine. You will be required to travel to customer site to provide on-site service by applying engineering expertise to design, install, test, upgrade, maintain, diagnose and repair Cutting Machine across customer sites. You'll develop strong customer relationships by performing custom made engineering design, scheduled service, preventive maintenance & urgent repairs while delivering high-quality engineering support and ensuring satisfaction with service delivery & machine functionality.
RELEVANT QUALIFICATION
· A Bachelor degree in Mechatronics
· Graduate membership with Institution of Engineer Australia
· Hold a Valid Australia Driving Licence
RELEVANT SKILLS
· Working knowledge of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) and CAM (Computer Aided Manufacture) systems and software; & Bosch PLC development
· Able to design electrical drawings for different type of CNC Plasma & Laser machines
· Mechanical design skills including drafting, detailed drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM) preparation;
· Knowledge in Robotic & motion design
· Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, pneumatic & gas schematics;
· Strong diagnostic and hands-on troubleshooting skills on industrial CNC plasma & Laser equipment.
· Excellent fault-finding, attention to details and problem-solving skills
· Calm and effective under pressure, able to manage competing priorities
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
· At least 2 years' experience in design of electrical drawing for different type of CNC Plasma & Laser machines
· At least 2 years' experience in servicing Laser & Plasma Cutting equipment
Essential Requirements
· Ability to obtain full working rights in Australia
· A valid Australian driver’s license.
· Willingness to travel away from home domestically and inter-state
Successful applicants will be required to complete reference checks, a National Police Check and a pre-employment medical assessment (including drug and alcohol screening) prior to commencement.
Salary package: AUS $80,000 – $90,000 per annum plus Superannuation
