Keep fixed plant moving in a hands-on Mechanical Fitter role with North Kerry Group
North Kerry Group is looking for an experienced Fitter to join our team on a 2/1 roster. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a mix of planned maintenance, breakdown response, fault finding and equipment rebuilds in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Working as part of our operations and maintenance team, you’ll play a key role in keeping plant and equipment running safely, efficiently and reliably. What you’ll be doing
- Carrying out planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance on plant and equipment
- Fault finding and repairing mechanical issues across fixed plant and associated machinery
- Maintaining and replacing components including bearings, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, rollers, motors, valves and drive systems
- Completing inspections, servicing and shutdown maintenance activities
- Assisting with equipment overhauls, rebuilds and installations
- Identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime
- Working closely with operations to prioritise maintenance tasks and respond to production needs
- Completing maintenance records, pre-starts, job notes and required documentation accurately
- Following site procedures, isolations and safety requirements at all times
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe work area
What we’re looking for
- Trade qualification
- Experience in maintenance fitting, fixed plant, processing plant, manufacturing, quarrying, mining or heavy industrial environments
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability
- Experience working on plant equipment such as conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, rollers and other mechanical systems
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Good communication skills and a reliable, proactive attitude
- Current driver’s licence
- Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening if required
Desirable tickets / experience
- Working at Heights
- Confined Space
- Forklift / EWP / dogging / rigging tickets
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Experience in shutdown work and maintenance planning
- Experience in a 24/7 processing or production environment
