Field Technician – Remote Soil Sampling (2-Week Contract)
Location: Ultra-remote Western Australia
Duration: Approximately 2 weeks (commencing early August)
Crew Size: 4-person field team
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Field Technician to join a small exploration crew for an ultra-remote soil sampling campaign in Western Australia.
This is not your average field job. You will be working in some of Australia's most remote country, living entirely off-grid with a small, self-sufficient team. If you enjoy challenging field work, problem-solving, and remote exploration, this opportunity is for you.
About the Role
As part of a four-person crew, you will:
- Collect soil samples in remote exploration areas.
- Operate in rugged terrain using 4WD vehicles.
- Camp in the field for up to 12 consecutive days.
- Assist with daily camp duties, including preparing meals over a campfire.
- Work safely and efficiently in a remote team environment.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Previous experience conducting remote field work, preferably soil or geochemical sampling.
- Demonstrated experience working in ultra-remote environments.
- Proven 4WD driving experience in challenging terrain.
- The ability to think independently and solve problems as they arise.
- A positive attitude and the ability to work effectively in a small team.
- A strong commitment to safety and following procedures.
- A realistic understanding of remote field conditions.
Important Conditions
This role involves genuine remote living. Applicants must be comfortable with:
- Camping in the field for up to 12 days without toilets or shower facilities.
- Living and working in isolated conditions.
- No phone reception. Internet reception via Starlink at camp and potentially mobile Starlink during the day. No phone reception
- Remaining with the crew for the entire duration of the campaign. Due to the remoteness of the work, leaving the program before completion is generally not possible except in the case of an emergency.
