Position Purpose
The Motel Manager is responsible for the overall planning, organising and controlling of motel operations to deliver high-quality guest accommodation, services and experiences while ensuring commercial performance and regulatory compliance.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The role encompasses the following core duties:
- Direct and oversee reservation, reception, and housekeeping activities to ensure consistent service standards
- Manage and supervise security arrangements, property maintenance, and grounds upkeep
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
- Recruit, induct, manage and develop staff; prepare rosters and manage workforce performance
- Monitor and manage property financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, revenue management, and cost control
- Liaise with guests to resolve complaints and ensure guest satisfaction targets are met
- Develop and implement policies, procedures and service standards consistent with the Vanderbilt
- Manage supplier and contractor relationships including procurement and service agreements
- Prepare operational reports and provide regular updates to the parent company
- Oversee health, safety and emergency procedures in compliance with relevant legislation
Selection Criteria – Essential
- AQF Diploma or higher in Hospitality Management, Business Administration or a related discipline; OR a minimum of three years relevant experience in lieu of formal qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in a hotel or motel management role with responsibility for day-to-day operations
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Sound financial acumen including experience with budgeting, P&L management and revenue optimisation
- Proven ability to maintain regulatory compliance
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to manage guest relations effectively
- Competency in property management systems (PMS) and standard office software
Selection Criteria – Desirable
- Experience within an accommodation group or management environment
- Knowledge of online distribution channels and revenue management systems
- Understanding of Vanderbilt standards and operational philosophy
Pay: $75,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
