About the Team
Our Global Investigations (GI) team operates cross-functionally in close coordination with many teams at Uber including Engineering Security, Insider Threat, Legal, Employee Relations, Human Resources, Risk, and Public Safety to investigate complex security and business challenges impacting the safety of our employees and the users of our applications. About the Role
Global Investigations is dedicated to keeping the platform safe from physical and financial threats for all our users and commercial partners. We do this by investigating internal and external matters, identifying vulnerabilities, and working cross-functionally to remove or mitigate risk. As a Lead Investigator working in Asia Pacific, you'll be responsible for conducting all facets of internal and external investigations that are allocated to you. You will be provided with assistance and training by experienced and helpful team members. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently, and make sound evidence-based decisions. This role will suit someone who can handle multiple competing priorities. We are a global team and you will be required at times to work on cases in other parts of the world which can involve working outside normal business hours. Uber is a tech company so the right candidate should be comfortable working in that environment and being open to learning new tools and technologies as the one constant is change.
What You'll Do
Manage and conduct internal and external investigations which will include:
- Triaging new cases;
- Find creative ways to investigate assigned cases;
- Gathering electronic and physical evidence;
- OSINT;
- Utilize advanced data analytics, cutting edge AI tools and models to identify and investigate fraud activities;
- Conducting witness and subject interviews;
- Prepare succinct and accurate written investigation reports;
- Compile briefs of evidence for referrals to law enforcement;
- Work in a collaborative environment supporting numerous internal partners;
- Be prepared to give evidence in criminal or civil court matters;
- Be mindful of commercial considerations while conducting investigations; and,
- Identify process weaknesses and suggest solutions.
You will conduct these tasks in compliance with Uber's protocols and local legal requirements.
Basic Qualifications
A minimum of three years of experience in investigations, ideally with a law enforcement organization or similar. Experience within the investigative department of a technology or financial institution is also acceptable.

- Experience conducting witness and subject interviews.
- Must be comfortable interacting with, and managing cross-functional stakeholders including law enforcement.
- High level of integrity.
- Working proficiency with one or more of the following office systems and applications such as Google Workplace (Google Docs/Sheets/Slides), MS Office, Salesforce, Jira, etc.
- Be willing to learn SQL and other data analysis and digital forensic tools.
Nice to have
- Proficiency using SQL.
- Experience in technical investigations and/or previous computer forensics exposure.
- Working proficiency in Mandarin or Japanese.
- OSINT skills.
- Good working knowledge of integrating AI into investigations and workflow management.
