Kick-start your career in the sports turf industry with Rockhampton Regional Council as an Apprentice in Sports Turf Management. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification while learning from experienced professionals responsible for maintaining some of the region’s premier sporting and recreational facilities.
Over the 36 month, Fixed Term Full Time apprenticeship you will receive structured on-the-job training and formal study working towards your Certificate III in Sports Turf Management while developing practical skills in sports turf maintenance, irrigation systems, landscaping, and the presentation of high-quality playing surfaces. You'll assist with a variety of tasks including mowing, turf renovation, watering, fertilising, and the operation of specialised equipment, all while learning industry best practices and safe work procedures.
This role is ideally suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining open spaces, and is eager to build a long-term career in the horticulture, greenkeeping, or sports turf industry. As part of a supportive team environment, you'll have the opportunity to develop valuable skills, contribute to community sporting facilities, and grow your knowledge through hands-on experience and ongoing mentoring.
This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

To be eligible for this role, applicants must be
- Aged 15 years or older and no longer at school.
- Able to meet citizen, residency, and visa requirements to undertake a traineeship.
- In possession of a C Class Driver Licence (Minimum Provisional).
- Able to complete a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).
