The City of Salisbury is seeking a motivated and skilled Building Maintenance Team Member - Carpenter to join the Building Maintenance team within City Infrastructure.
Reporting to the Coordinator Building Maintenance, you will contribute to the effective maintenance, repair and presentation of Council buildings, facilities and community assets. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will undertake a range of carpentry, building maintenance and repair activities to ensure Council assets remain safe, functional and well-maintained for our community.
Your key responsibilities will include:

Undertake general carpentry and building maintenance works across Council assets.

Inspect Council facilities and infrastructure, identify defects and undertake remedial works.

Complete maintenance and repairs to buildings, structures, fixtures and fittings.

Undertake minor tiling, plastering, flushing and associated maintenance activities.

Operate plant, machinery, tools and equipment safely and effectively.

Assist with asset inspections, audits and condition assessments.

Raise and report infrastructure defects identified during maintenance activities.

Liaise with contractors and stakeholders to support quality maintenance outcomes.

Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used and maintenance activities.

Contribute to a safe, collaborative and customer-focused team environment.
About you:
You are a reliable and safety-focused tradesperson who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship. With a trade background in carpentry, you enjoy working across a diverse range of maintenance, repair and construction activities and are committed to maintaining Council assets to a high standard. You have a practical approach to problem solving, work well as part of a team and take ownership of your work.
You will also have:

Qualified trade in Carpentry or equivalent.

Demonstrated experience in building maintenance, carpentry or construction works.

Technical competency in building maintenance and construction activities, including knowledge of appropriate materials, plant and equipment.

Experience using a range of hand tools, power tools and maintenance equipment.

Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
-
Ability to identify maintenance issues and implement practical solutions.
-
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
-
Good time management and organisational skills.
-
Ability to use technology to receive, manage and complete work tasks.
-
Current Class C Driver's Licence.

Work Zone Traffic Management, Working at Heights or Confined Space qualifications will be highly regarded.

Experience working within local government or a similar maintenance environment will be highly regarded.
