An exciting opportunity to join Master Electricians Australia in the role of Policy Officer. This is a full time 6-month fixed term contract, providing maternity cover with the possibility of extension.

The Role:
In this role, you’ll help shape the future of the electrical industry by researching emerging issues, assisting with the development of policy submissions and communicating MEA’s position to government, industry and key stakeholders. You’ll turn complex policy issues into clear, persuasive messages that help influence change and deliver better outcomes for electrical contractors.
Responsibilities Include:
- Research and monitor policy, legislative and regulatory developments affecting the electrical industry.
- Support the GM of Advocacy with policy submissions, consultation responses, position papers and briefing materials.
- Gather information and insights from stakeholders to support MEA’s policy and advocacy activities.
- Prepare and coordinate communications, policy updates and briefing material for government, industry bodies, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate meetings, including invitations, agendas and materials and prepare accurate meeting minutes and action items.
- Maintain accurate records of policy activities, submissions, consultations and key deadlines.

What we are looking for:
- Relevant qualification in policy, communications, industrial relations, law or a related field.
- Experience in policy, advocacy, communications or a similar role.
- Excellent research and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of the construction industry is desirable, with experience in the electrical industry highly desirable.
- Experience within a membership, association or not-for-profit environment highly regarded.
