Chef – Full Time
Akshaya Group Pty Ltd, trading as Regretless – Low Carb Pressure, a specialty hospitality venue in Templestowe Lower known for its low-carb, sugar-free and dietary-focused menu, is seeking a skilled Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. Working closely with and assisting the Head Chef, the successful candidate will prepare and cook menu items to a high standard, support menu development and daily kitchen operations, and help maintain food safety and quality standards across the kitchen.
This role suits an experienced Chef who enjoys hands-on cooking, works well in a team, and has a genuine interest in health-focused and special dietary cuisine.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and preparing menu items, including seasonal, low-carb, sugar-free and allergen-conscious dishes.
- Prepare, cook and present food to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Support day-to-day kitchen operations, including stock rotation, food storage, ordering and preparation schedules, and help minimise wastage.
- Maintain consistent food quality and portion control, with strict attention to allergen management and cross-contamination prevention.
- Guide and support cooks and kitchen hands as directed by the Head Chef.
- Maintain a clean, organised kitchen and comply with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards.
Skills and Qualifications
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in a commercial kitchen environment.
- Experience or demonstrated interest in special dietary cooking (such as low-carb, gluten-free or allergen-managed menus) is highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and kitchen hygiene practices.
- Strong teamwork, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen.
Work Schedule
The position requires flexibility to work on a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, depending on operational requirements.
Remuneration
Annual salary between $75,000 and $85,000 plus superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience.
