Cannabis Doctors Tasmania is seeking General Practitioners to join our growing team of telehealth clinicians.
We are an independent, doctor-led medicinal cannabis clinic providing consultations to patients across Australia living with chronic and complex conditions. Our focus is on safe, ethical and evidence-informed care, while giving our doctors the freedom to practise according to their own professional judgement.

We are funded solely through consultation fees. We do not accept commissions, rebates, incentives or payments from pharmacies or medicinal cannabis companies. Every prescribing decision is made independently and in the best interests of the patient.

Whether you are looking for one additional clinic session each week or want to build a busy telehealth practice, we can tailor your schedule around your existing commitments.
Appointments are available between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm, seven days a week, making this an ideal opportunity to combine with general practice, hospital work, specialist training, other clinical commitments or family life.
Patient demand continues to grow, and new doctors can typically establish a busy appointment book relatively quickly.
Earning Potential
Doctors are engaged on a percentage-of-billings model.
Current consultation fees:
- Initial consultation (30 minutes): $139
- Follow-up consultation (15 minutes): $99
Indicative hourly earnings:
- Initial consultations: approximately $166–181+ per hour
- Follow-up consultations: approximately $238–257+ per hour
As your patient base develops, follow-up appointments generally become a larger proportion of your workload. Most doctors therefore earn within—or above—these indicative ranges depending on their appointment mix, availability and working hours.
About the Role
You will provide telehealth consultations to patients with chronic and complex health conditions who have not achieved adequate symptom control with conventional treatment options.
Your role will include:
- Conducting comprehensive clinical assessments
- Reviewing previous treatment history and relevant investigations
- Assessing suitability for medicinal cannabis therapy
- Developing individualised treatment plans
- Monitoring treatment effectiveness and patient outcomes
- Providing ongoing follow-up care
- Communicating with patients’ regular GPs and other healthcare providers to support coordinated care
Our experienced administration team manages appointment scheduling, patient communication, prescription processing and day-to-day logistics, allowing you to spend your time focused on clinical practice.

- Independent, brand-neutral prescribing

- Routine communication with each patient's regular GP

Whether your prescribing approach is more conservative or more progressive, your professional independence and clinical judgement are respected and supported.
About You
We are looking for doctors with:
- Current AHPRA registration
- At least three years of clinical experience
- Excellent communication and consultation skills
- Confidence providing patient care via telehealth
- An interest in chronic disease management and caring for patients with complex health needs
Previous medicinal cannabis prescribing experience is not required.
