The Role
Vermont Estate is a welcoming and vibrant retirement community in leafy South Plympton, where residents enjoy an active, social lifestyle and exceptional support. We are looking for a dedicated Village Support Officer to join our team on a permanent part-time basis, helping to create a positive and engaging experience for our residents every day.
As part of our team, you will support residents in their daily lives while promoting independence and assisting with a variety of tasks across the village as a valued all-rounder. You will play an important role in building meaningful relationships with residents and contributing to the warm, inclusive community that makes Vermont Estate a wonderful place to live.
Reporting to the Village Manager, your duties will include:
- Building positive and respectful relationships with residents to promote wellbeing and a strong sense of community
- Conducting resident welfare checks to ensure comfort, safety, and peace of mind
- Responding to resident enquiries
- Assisting with meal and dinner service, ensuring residents enjoy a positive dining experience
- Completing kitchen clean-up duties following dinner service, including cleaning dining and kitchen areas, washing dishes, and maintaining a tidy environment
- Cleaning and maintaining common areas throughout the village, including community spaces, dining areas, and shared facilities, to ensure a safe, welcoming, and well-presented environment for residents and visitors
- Responding to emergency call-outs and coordinating emergency services where necessary
- Providing first aid assistance as required
- Maintaining accurate records, completing incident reports, and providing thorough shift handovers
- Assisting with the coordination and delivery of village events and activities
- Providing general support around the village and assisting with additional tasks as directed by the Village Manager
Shifts
This role will primarily involve afternoon shifts that transition into overnight sleepover shifts, with regular weekend availability required. There will also be opportunities to pick up additional shifts and provide leave coverage across day, afternoon, and overnight rosters during the week.
- Wednesday: 2:30pm – 10:30pm, followed by a sleepover shift, concluding at 8:30am the following morning.
- Sunday: 2:30pm – 10:30pm, followed by a sleepover shift, concluding at 8:30am the following morning.
Our preferred working days for this position are outlined above; however, we recognise the importance of flexibility and may be able to consider alternative arrangements for the right candidate. About You
A professional and positive approach is required at all times to ensure that all residents’ needs are met, as well as having the following:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse community
- Demonstrated customer service experience
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with an approachable personality that helps build trust and rapport with residents, families, and team members
- A current First Aid & CPR Certificate (or be willing to obtain)
- Have strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks effectively
- The ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in emergency situations
- Be highly motivated and able to take initiative
- Have basic computer skills
