About the role
Play a pivotal role in shaping the future of one of Australia’s most significant local government property portfolios. As Senior Property Manager, you will help drive the strategic direction of Council’s multi-billion-dollar property portfolio, delivering complex and high-impact property projects that support the Council Plan, Property Plan, Open Space Strategy, and other key strategic priorities.
This influential role is responsible for delivering high-quality property outcomes through strategic acquisitions and divestments, lease and licence negotiations, road discontinuances, and the successful management of property projects that enhance community, neighbourhood and service outcomes.
Working across a diverse stakeholder landscape, you will provide expert strategic, professional and technical advice to senior leaders within the City of Melbourne, while building strong partnerships with external agencies, industry professionals and legal advisers. Your ability to influence, negotiate and manage risk will be critical in delivering outcomes that balance commercial, community and strategic objectives.
With a strong focus on continuous improvement, you will lead innovative approaches to property management, ensuring the portfolio is effectively managed, optimised and aligned to Council’s long-term vision. About you
You are a strategic property professional with extensive experience managing complex property portfolios and delivering high-value property projects. With strong commercial acumen and a deep understanding of property transactions, leasing, acquisitions and divestments, you have a proven ability to achieve strategic outcomes in a complex stakeholder environment.
You excel at building trusted relationships and influencing senior stakeholders, navigating competing priorities and providing clear, evidence-based advice. Your strong negotiation skills, sound judgement and ability to manage risk enable you to deliver outcomes that balance commercial, operational and community objectives.
A proactive and solutions-focused leader, you are committed to continuous improvement and thrive in a dynamic environment where your expertise contributes to shaping the future of Melbourne’s property portfolio.
What your experience might look like
- Relevant tertiary qualification in property, valuations or a related discipline, coupled with significant property management experience.
- Strong knowledge of property legislation, governance, policies and best-practice property management principles and local government legislation.
- Proven experience managing complex property matters within a politically sensitive and multifaceted environment.
- Highly developed communication, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic property advice, manage risk and deliver successful property outcomes across a complex portfolio.
