Costerfield Operations, owned and operated by Alkane Resources Ltd, is situated in Central Victoria, east of Bendigo and surrounded by numerous towns within a 50km radius, offering a variety of residential options.
Our current operation runs an underground mine and processing plant that is responsible for producing gold and antimony. The mine's workforce consists of over 250 permanent employees who hold various roles in professional, technical, mining, processing, and trades.

About The Role
Reporting to the Health, Safety Superintendent, as the HS Officer, you will provide practical support across a broad range of safety activities, both underground and on the surface. This role offers exposure to all aspects of operational health and safety within a dynamic underground mining environment operating under Victoria's dual regulatory framework.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
· Support leaders and employees to foster a positive and proactive safety culture across site.
· Participate in toolbox talks, pre-start meetings and field-based safety engagement activities.
· Assist with the implementation and continuous improvement of the OHS Management System, including safety procedures, JSAs and critical controls.
· Conduct workplace and underground inspections, hazard identification and risk assessments.
· Support compliance with WorkSafe Victoria and Resources Victoria requirements.
· Assist with incident reporting, ICAM investigations and corrective action management.
· Support internal and external audits and monitor action close-out.
· Contribute to safety reporting, performance analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Assist with site health and wellbeing programs, fatigue management and return-to-work processes.
· Build strong working relationships with operational, maintenance and contractor teams through visible and practical safety support.
About You
We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, enjoys working with people, and is passionate about making workplaces safer.
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or currently working towards).
- Up to 2 years' WHS/OHS experience, or a trade, operational or supervisory background with a strong interest in safety.
- Strong written communication and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
- Experience in mining, quarrying, construction or civil industries.
- ICAM or other incident investigation training.
Knowledge of Victorian OHS legislation and mining regulations. Willingness to work underground and complete required site training.
