About the role
The Senior Medical Officer - Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) Connect Service provides leadership in clinical services of voluntary assisted dying that is innovative and encourages whole of organisation participation in treatment and care aimed at achieving person-centred outcomes. A subspecialty interest in oncology, neurology, palliative care, anaesthetics, pain management, general medicine or general practice is desirable but not essential. Any other specialty deemed appropriate will be considered.
What we're looking for
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
High level clinical expertise and comprehensive contemporary knowledge of the provision of patient centred care in voluntary assisted dying, including an ability to manage complex clinical situations, coordinate, case manage and successfully deliver comprehensive patient-centred care and clinical governance for the VAD Connect service.
Advanced level communication skills and organisational ability, including well-developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and the ability to effectively use problem solving and conflict resolution frameworks.

Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
