Job Description
A Case Preparation Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the seamless flow of surgical lists by meticulously preparing and organising clinical instrumentation, consumables, and specialized equipment required for each procedure. Operating within a high-pressure theatre environment, you will strictly adhere to hospital infection control guidelines and sterilization protocols to maintain optimal patient safety. This highly collaborative role involves working closely with perioperative nursing and surgical teams to anticipate case requirements, troubleshoot discrepancies, and facilitate rapid room turnaround times. Key responsibilities also include managing theatre inventory, tracking sterile stock levels, and ensuring all surgical trays are accurately documented and configured prior to patient arrival.
As a Case Preparation Assistant, you will work as an integral member of our team and ensure safe surgical outcomes are achieved, in line with the core values and strategic direction of the department, Hospital and Ramsay Health Care.
Duties and responsibilities will involve, but are not limited to;

Assemble, disassemble, and manage theatre case set-ups in accordance with the daily operating list.

Ensure the correct handling, management, and storage of sterile disposable and non-disposable stock.

Operate specialised sterilising equipment and perform effective decontamination and reprocessing of endoscopes, equipment, and accessories.

Maintain accurate proof of process and cycle validation documentation specific to the perioperative environment.

Coordinate instrumentation and equipment requirements with theatre teams and the floor coordinator as required.

Assist with putting away sterile stock and facilitate the fast-track process to the Central Sterifying Services Department (CSSD).

Adhere strictly to hospital infection control guidelines, workplace safety instructions, and the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Proven competence in manual handling with specialized equipment and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
