About the Role
You can apply for roles within schools across Victoria to provide IT support independently or as part of a team. Roles can span the full support spectrum:
- Level 1 – End-user support, password resets, device setup, connectivity troubleshooting
- Level 2 – Network issues, software deployment, device imaging, Active Directory
- Level 3 – Server infrastructure, virtualisation, firewall/routing, domain administration
You won't always have someone to hold your hand — schools need technicians who can assess, prioritise, and resolve issues confidently on their own.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on IT support experience (helpdesk, field tech, or similar)
- Ability to work independently and manage your own time on-site
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and networking
- Comfortable supporting Windows environments (Active Directory, Group Policy, Office 365)
- Valid Working with Children Check (WWC) — or willingness to obtain one
- Reliable transport and ability to travel to schools across your preferred region
- Australian work rights (citizen, permanent resident, or valid work visa)
Highly Regarded:
- Experience in an education or government environment
- Familiarity with school-specific platforms (e.g. Compass, Sentral, CASES21)
- Networking certifications (CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or similar)
- Microsoft or other vendor certifications
- Experience with server infrastructure, VMware/Hyper-V, or similar
Pay & Conditions
Please read before applying — we want to make sure this is the right fit for both of us.
- Positions are casual on a fixed schedule — hours vary depending on the school/role you apply for.
- Pay ranges between $45 to $52 per hour
A Genuine Work-Life Benefit Worth Highlighting
One of the standout advantages of working in a school-based role is the alignment with the Victorian school calendar. In practical terms, this means:
- School holidays = significantly reduced or no work commitments for most roster members
- Four breaks throughout the year, including a long summer break, where you can genuinely switch off
- Ideal for parents or carers who want their downtime to line up with their children's school holidays — something very few IT roles can offer
- Some technicians use holiday periods for other contracts, personal projects, or simply rest — the flexibility is yours
If you've ever wished your work schedule aligned with your family's, this role is worth serious consideration.
