Primary objective
Manage the development and delivery of assigned Minor New Works and Specific Maintenance projects and support the Delivery of
Capital Works projects to ensure deliverables are achieved. Provide technical advice in discipline areas of expertise to management and
Project Managers.
Context statement
The position works in a project team or independently to undertake assigned projects acting as either the Superintendents
Representative/Nominee or project Site Representative, undertaking project management duties, project quality control and providing
technical advice to other Project Managers on civil construction projects.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Undertake Site Representative duties on projects which include, releasing hold and witness points, ensuring workmanship and
materials comply with contract documentation and relevant standards, ensure adequate conformance testing is being undertaken and
conforming results are being achieved, report any WHS, environmental or traffic control issues observed on site and maintaining and
appropriately filing construction records including quantity adjustments and verification, daily diaries and photographic records.
2. Deliver assigned Minor New Works and Specific Maintenance projects in the region, ensuring projects meet the department’s
requirements. This includes activities such as scoping and estimating, preparing procurement and contract documentation, preparing
and reviewing various management plans and project/contract management of the delivery of works once a contract is awarded.
3. Manage or participate in design reviews, checking design constructability and whether designs meet DLI standard and technical
directives.
4. Procure works as per relevant DLI procurement policy and guidelines and chair tender assessment panels. As the Site Representative,
contribute to the tender assessment process and in both cases, ensure tenders are being assessed as per the Value for Territory
procurement guidelines. Sit on debrief panels as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. A relevant qualification awarded by an Australian Institution, or equivalent, or relevant experience in a field of technical work closely
related to the duties of the vacancy.
2. Sound written and oral communication skills including the ability to accurately record construction activities, understand and articulate
project issues and prepare design, procurement, contract and project management documentation.
3. Sound knowledge of road and civil industry design, construction and maintenance techniques and practices, including roads, land
servicing and typical environmental management practices.
4. Sound information technology skills including word processing and spreadsheet software.
5. A working knowledge of the requirements of relevant legislation including the Road Control Act and Regulations, Sacred Sites Act,
Extractive Minerals Act, Work Health Act, and environmental legislation and policies, as applied in the NT as well as a range of
Australian Standards, Codes of Practice and associated Guidelines.
6. Current Driver’s Licence.
Desirable
1. Diploma in Project or Contract Management and / or Construction Management.
