Headstart Acquired Brain Injury Services is a specialist service supporting the choices and independence of people with an acquired brain injury (ABI). The Finance Manager is a senior management position responsible for overseeing the financial operations and budgeting for our organisation. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of finance principles, experience in financial management within the NDIS sector, and the ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams. This position is offered on a 4-day per week basis. However, for the right candidate, alternative working arrangements may be considered.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparation of monthly financial and management reporting
- Preparation of annual accounts for audit and annual statutory reporting
- Monitor the day-to-day financial operations such as payroll, invoicing, and other transactions.
- Provide financial and analytical support to the CEO and Management Team
- Analyse budget performance and translation into service delivery
- Review debtor and creditors monthly and address any outstanding issues.
- Preparation of annual budgets and monthly variance reporting
- Prepare Annual funding Acquittals and lodge with relevant funding bodies once approved
- Responsibility in the updating and maintaining the employee portal
- Work closely with external accountants in ensuring compliance with lodgements for all statutory returns
- Lodging and management of Insurance claims and any associated reimbursements
- Responsibility for managing Workers Compensation PIAWE processes and preparation / lodgement of wages declarations
- Work closely with external accounting/audit organisations and other third-party service providers

Desired Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of financial experience in a professional services industry or related field, encompassing financial accounting reconciliations, accounts receivables, accounts payables, and payroll.
- Demonstrated proficiency in database management with a track record of utilising integrated HR systems (experience with ELMO software is advantageous).
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CA/CPA qualifications.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, are imperative.
- Proven ability to operate effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong organisational skills, including the capability to plan, prioritise workloads, multitask, and oversee the work of others.
- Proficiency in computer usage, particularly in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Cleared Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Possession of a current NSW Driver’s License.
- Documentation confirming your Right to Work in Australia.
