Disability Support Worker | 25–38 Hours Per Week
Daytime Hours | Consistent Ongoing Roster
Care Connect Support is looking for an experienced, confident and adaptable Support Worker who knows that great disability support requires more than simply being caring.
We're looking for someone who can build genuine rapport while maintaining professional boundaries, think clearly when situations change, follow support plans consistently and recognise when a participant needs encouragement, space, practical assistance or a different approach.
This is a varied ongoing position offering approximately 25–38 hours per week for the right person.
We're looking for someone who...
Is calm under pressure.
You don't become flustered when someone is distressed, dysregulated or displaying behaviours of concern. You can remain composed, use clear communication and prioritise safety without becoming reactive or confrontational.
Understands Positive Behaviour Support.
You recognise that good behaviour support starts before an incident occurs. You notice early warning signs, understand triggers, use proactive regulation strategies and can maintain reasonable boundaries without getting drawn into arguments or power struggles. These are key expectations within the support guidance relevant to this role.
Can be warm without losing professional boundaries.
We want workers who genuinely connect with the people they support. You should be personable, engaging and compassionate while understanding that your role also involves maintaining consistency, completing professional responsibilities and following established plans.
Is confident with behaviours of concern.
Some supports involve complex behaviours, including physical aggression and periods of significant dysregulation. You need to be comfortable working in this environment, recognising escalation early and responding appropriately when safety becomes a concern.
Is comfortable providing physical support.
The role also involves supporting physical disability and fluctuating mobility. You should be comfortable with mobility assistance, transfers, equipment and manual-handling procedures and understand the importance of following individual recommendations rather than improvising.
Is observant.
Great support workers notice things. Changes in mood, behaviour, mobility, fatigue, health, environment or routine can all be important.
We need someone who doesn't simply arrive, complete tasks and leave.
Encourages independence.
Your role isn't to automatically do everything for someone. You'll look for opportunities to involve participants in decisions, activities and everyday tasks and provide the level of assistance actually required. Supporting choice and participation is an important part of the role.
Can follow a plan AND use good judgement.
You'll be working with established support strategies, behaviour support guidance and individual procedures.
We need someone who can follow these consistently while still thinking on their feet. When something falls outside the plan, you ask and escalate rather than making up a solution yourself.
Documents properly.
Case notes aren't an afterthought. You need to be able to clearly and objectively document what occurred, what support was provided, relevant changes or observations, strategies used and outcomes.
Experience we're interested in
Previous experience in disability support is strongly preferred, particularly experience involving:
Positive Behaviour Support | Behaviours of Concern | Autism Support | Complex Support | Physical Disability | Manual Handling | Mobility Assistance | Community Access
You don't need to be an expert in every area.
We're looking for someone with a strong foundation, the right temperament and a willingness to learn individual support needs properly.
Participant-specific training and guidance will be provided.
The hours
For the right applicant, approximately 25–38 hours per week are available.
Shifts fall between 7:00am and 4:00pm, Monday to Saturday, with every second Saturday required.
Individual shifts range from approximately 2–9 hours.
This role involves travel between support locations approximately 20–30 minutes apart, so reliable personal transport and the ability to travel between shifts are essential.
About Care Connect Support
At Care Connect Support, we're interested in the quality of support, not simply whether a shift was completed.
We value workers who build strong professional relationships, communicate openly, respect participant choice and autonomy, follow established support strategies and speak up when something doesn't seem right.
We also understand that good support workers need good support themselves. You'll be part of a team where communication, participant-specific training and guidance are an important part of the role.
Does this sound like you?
You may be a great fit if you're the worker who:
stays calm when things get difficult, notices the little things, doesn't need to be constantly directed, isn't afraid to ask questions, follows through on what needs to be done, and genuinely enjoys helping people get more out of their day.
If you're looking for consistent daytime hours and a role where your skills, judgement and ability to connect with people actually matter, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply with your resume and a short introduction telling us about your disability support experience and why you think you'd be a good fit for Care Connect Support.
