This position will play a vital role in the management of future growth and development of the Rockhampton region. You will apply best practice strategic planning concepts and manage strategic planning projects, including project management, community engagement, consultation and cross functional collaboration and coordination.
This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).
What we are looking for
- Strong understanding and/or proven experience of working with a Queensland local government town planning or related business environment and processes including relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Detailed understanding of managing and guiding urban and regional growth through a strong knowledge of strategic land use planning concepts, policy and legislation
- Positive attitude and someone who thrives on building effective partnerships.
- Ability to negotiate with key stakeholders to ensure best practice is achieved.
- Demonstrated experience to forecast and analyse data.
- Qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning are desirable.

Application Criteria
- Demonstrated experience in local government urban and regional planning (or similar) and sound knowledge of relevant legislation (including the Planning Act 2016), planning schemes (including undertaking of amendments), policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated project management experience and skills in leading multiple projects within scope, time and budget.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven track record in developing strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
- Proven writing skills with experience in undertaking research and drafting concise reports, correspondence and presentations, and ability to read and interpret development plans and planning policies.
