Council’s Strategic Planning Branch are looking for a savvy, suitably qualified and experienced Planner to join the team or take the next step in their career.
Working within a collaborative and supportive team and reporting to the Team Leader Strategic Planning, you will have the opportunity to lead exciting projects and assist with mentoring of staff. This role will see you coordinating the delivery of appropriate planning outcomes for heritage, rural areas and precinct planning in designated growth areas. Using your ability to think strategically, holistically and creatively, this role will also see you coordinating the development and implementation of strategic land use policy to support our growing community.
This exciting role will also see you coordinating policy actions in Camden’s Local Strategic Planning Statement, and the review and development of strategies and planning instruments for the Camden LGA and growth centre precincts. Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, or related discipline and extensive job-related experience
- Thorough understanding of new urban release area planning and associated principles
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and project manage planning proposals including the management of consultants undertaking specialist studies to support precinct planning
- Demonstrated high level communication, interpersonal, negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to think strategically, holistically and creatively to deliver complex outcomes in a politically sensitive environment
- Sound working knowledge of, and/or experience in, the implementation of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000 and the NSW Local Government Act 1993
- Strong focus on and commitment to quality customer service
- Demonstrated ability to apply EEO, WHS and ethical practice principles and to act with probity at all times
Desirable:
- Demonstrated skills and experience in the formulation and implementation of community consultation programs
- Evidence of commitment to ongoing professional development
