Accounts Officer (Full-Time)
About Us
We are looking for an experienced, organised, and motivated Accounts Officer to join our team on a full-time, office-based role.
This role would suit someone who has worked in a similar accounts position and is confident managing accounts payable, reconciliations, reporting, spreadsheets, and day-to-day financial operations. Experience using MYOB (or similar system) is preferred.
Civil construction experience is preferred but not essential. More important is strong, hands-on accounts experience, a proactive approach, and the ability to quickly understand how the business operates.
We are looking for someone who can take full ownership of the accounts function and play an active role in improving systems and processes. The successful candidate will have the autonomy to identify, develop, and implement more efficient and effective ways of working to improve accuracy, structure, and overall performance within the accounts function.
About the Role
This is a hands-on accounts role covering a range of responsibilities, including:
- Managing accounts payable and supplier invoices
- Processing and reconciling creditor accounts
- Bank and account reconciliations
- Maintaining accurate financial records and spreadsheets
- Preparing weekly and monthly financial reports
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting
- Monitoring project costs and business expenditure
- Job costing and financial tracking across projects
- Reviewing and improving existing financial systems and processes
- Providing accurate financial information to management
- General accounts and administration support where required
About You
We are looking for someone reliable, switched on, and confident working in a fast-paced environment. You will need strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience in an Accounts Officer, Accounts Administrator, Bookkeeper or similar role
- Strong accounts payable and reconciliation experience
- Advanced Excel / spreadsheet skills
- Experience preparing weekly and monthly financial reports
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage priorities and work independently
- Strong problem-solving skills and initiative
Preferred Experience
- Experience using MYOB or similar accounting software
- Experience within civil construction, mining, transport, or related industries
