Laundry Operators - Aged Care Inner West Melbourne
Are you a laundry professional looking to join a dedicated team that values the work that you do?
We're looking for professional, reliable and caring laundry operators with great communication skills and work experience in the field, to join the ACW Care Team in Aged Care.
Your experience in laundry operation is essential and preferably gained in the aged care, housekeeping or healthcare sectors.
Residential aged care facilities can be challenging environments with residents often having mental and emotional issues, so you will need to a calm, compassionate and resilient demeanour.
These casual Mon - Sun positions are located in the Melbourne area - to start with Avondale Heights, and eventually move to different sites as and when basis.
Shift length and start times vary. Start times are either 6:30 am or 8am finishing at 12:30pm/1:30pm/2:30pm or 3pm depending on the location and shift.
Working across multiple sites in inner west Melbourne, you will fill in laundry and cleaning shifts when others are on leave, assisting with training, supervision and detailed cleaning.
If you're highly motivated, with great attention to detail, and have an understanding that in aged care we're a part of a resident's extended family you will do well in this role.
Laundry Staff must have the ability to:
- Identify fabric and garment cleaning requirements.
- Follow defined OHS policies and procedures.
- Apply Quality Standards.
- Operate washing machines.
- Perform conditioning and drying process.
- Prepare products for storage and dispatch.
- Conduct safe handling of laundry chemicals.
- Apply infection control policies and procedures in laundry operations.
- Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices.
- Work well unsupervised.
The work involved is physical (washing, drying and folding laundry) so you will need to be fairly fit and willing to work hard.

Full training and on-going support will be provided.
What YOU will need
- Proof of right to work in Australia (i.e permanent resident or visa without work restrictions)
- A valid Police Check which specifies that you can work unsupervised or supervised with vulnerable people or be willing to undertake one
- NDIS check: Current or willing to apply
- Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination (3 doses) plus willingness to have boosters as required
- Proof of Annual Flu Vaccination and willingness to undertake ongoing
- Great communication skills and a 'can do' attitude
- Right to work in Australia
- A diligent, willing and can do attitude
