About the Role
Coogee is seeking an experienced E&I Design Technologist to join our Engineering Services team on a permanent full-time basis.
Reporting to the Engineering Services Manager, this role will be responsible for preparing and maintaining electrical, instrumentation and control design and drafting deliverables throughout the project lifecycle. You will help ensure E&I designs are accurate, constructible and technically compliant, while supporting site verification, construction, commissioning and project handover activities as required.
This is a practical, hands-on position suited to someone with strong E&I drafting and documentation experience who enjoys working across multidisciplinary industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and revise electrical, instrumentation and control drawings and design deliverables.
- Maintain drawing registers, document records, revision control and traceability requirements.
- Incorporate approved design changes and prepare accurate as-built documentation.
- Review vendor documentation, tenders and technical information against project standards and specifications.
- Participate in design reviews and support the preparation of technical documentation, calculations and studies.
- Undertake site verification activities and provide construction, commissioning and project handover support.
- Assist with resolving site technical issues and provide contractor supervision when assigned.
- Collaborate with project teams, operations, maintenance, contractors, consultants and equipment vendors.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of E&I standards, specifications and procedures.
- Supporting capital projects from feasibility through commissioning and handover
The Successful Candidate Will Have
- A relevant qualification in electrical engineering technology, electrical design, engineering drafting or a related discipline, or an E&I trade qualification with demonstrated design and drafting experience
- Experience preparing E&I drawings and schedules for industrial, manufacturing or process facilities
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, calculations, equipment data, mark-ups and site verification information
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and relevant design or document management systems
- Strong document control, organisation and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across multidisciplinary project teams
- Add hazardous-area knowledge or competencies as desirable
- Add experience in chemical processing, hazardous facilities or heavy industry
