Dream Support Services is looking for disability support workers experienced with participants who show complex behaviours. This is a casual role based in Cairns, offering 10 - 20 hours per week with the possibility of further hours once embedded in the organisation. We are a locally owned disability support organisation with up to 50 participants and growing.
Responsibilities:
- Providing companionship and support to assist clients to develop their existing skills, abilities and confidence
- Assisting with domestic tasks and chores such as shopping, menu planning, cooking, washing, toileting and cleaning
- Assisting individuals with daily living tasks like personal care, meal preparation, and medication management
- Providing adequate documentation in a timely manner - shift notes, incident reports, etc.
- Helping participants develop skills to live as independently as possible
Requirements:
- Previous experience in support worker
- Blue Card and NDIS Screening Card (or willingness to obtain)
- Drivers license and vehicle, and full comprehensive insurance
- First Aid & CPR
- Qualifications within Community Services and/or Individual Support preferred but not necessary
- Full Australian working rights
- Weekday and weekend availability (or flexible)
- Strong documentation skills and shift note writing is a must
