Assistant Accountant

We are seeking an experienced hands-on Financial Management Accountant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for month-end close activities, consolidated statutory and tax reporting and all other parent company responsibilities, inventory accounting, compliance reporting, and supporting finance transformation projects. The successful candidate will have strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent systems experience, and advanced Excel and analytical skills. The role is based in Brisbane and will report to the Finance Manager, Yara Australia.
Responsibilities
Summary of Duties
Accounts payable and supplier invoicing
Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner
Perform invoice matching and coding
Prepare and process supplier payments
Resolve supplier queries and reconcile supplier statements
Bank Reconciliation
Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations
Investigate and resolve reconciling items promptly
Journal Entries
Prepare and post routine journal entries
Assist with month-end close processes and balance sheet reconciliations
Fixed Assets Management
Maintain fixed asset register
Process asset additions, disposals, and depreciation journals
Assist with asset verification and reporting
Support Insurance Administration
Coordinate company insurance renewals and claims
Maintain insurance records and supporting documentation
Leased Vehicle Administration
Manage leased vehicle records and related documentation
Coordinate lease payments, fuel cards, and vehicle reporting requirements
General Finance Support
Support audit and compliance activities
Assist with financial reporting and ad hoc tasks as required
Provide administrative support to the finance team as required
General Operation support
Sales invoicing
Stock take

Profile
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related discipline
Experience:
Minimum 2+ years’ experience in assistant accountant role,
Proficiency:
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Positive and proactive attitude
Willingness to learn and develop
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
