Year 11 Maths Methods & Physics Tutor – In-Home | Bulleen

Matching Minds is looking for an experienced, reliable and engaging tutor to work one-on-one with a Year 11 student in their home in Bulleen, providing support across Mathematical Methods and Physics.
We're looking for someone with strong subject knowledge who can explain complex concepts clearly, identify gaps in understanding and help the student build confidence across both subjects.
About the role
You'll work one-on-one with a Year 11 student, providing personalised support across Mathematical Methods and Physics.
The right tutor will:
- Provide strong subject support across Year 11 Mathematical Methods and Physics
- Break complex mathematical and physics concepts into clear, easy-to-understand steps
- Identify and address gaps in the student's knowledge and understanding
- Support schoolwork, assignments, SAC preparation and exams
- Help develop effective mathematical and scientific problem-solving techniques
- Review upcoming assessments and help the student prepare effectively
- Build stronger study habits, organisation and time management skills
- Adapt their teaching approach to suit how the student learns best
- Build confidence and encourage more independent learning
- Provide consistent academic support throughout Year 11 and ideally into Year 12
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is:
- Highly confident teaching Year 11 Mathematical Methods and Physics
- Strong academically, particularly in Maths and Physics
- Able to explain challenging concepts in a simple and engaging way
- Patient, positive and encouraging
- Reliable, organised and professional
- Able to build genuine rapport with a secondary school student
- Proactive in understanding what the student is working on at school and where additional support is needed
- Committed to supporting the student consistently over the longer term
Previous tutoring or teaching experience is highly regarded.
High-achieving university students studying Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Physics or a related discipline are also strongly encouraged to apply.
Hours
Tutoring will be conducted one-on-one in the student's home in Bulleen, with sessions generally taking place after school, in the evenings or on weekends.
For the right tutor, there may also be opportunities to take on additional Matching Minds students in Bulleen and surrounding suburbs based on your availability and subject strengths.
Requirements
To be considered, you'll need:
- A current Working with Children Check
- Your own ABN
- Reliable transport to travel to the student's home in Bulleen
- Strong knowledge of VCE Mathematical Methods and Physics
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine commitment to helping students improve academically and build confidence
