- Modern and well-maintained John Deere & Kenworth fleet
- Quality package & accommodation, just minutes from Hillston
- Autonomy and responsibility offered
The Role
Our clients run a large-scale family farming operation near Hillston, NSW, approximately 85 kilometres north of Griffith, covering some 13,000 Ha with winter cereals. Taking pride in a well-equipped and enclosed workshop, they are inviting a Workshop Manager to join their dynamic team.
This role requires strong mechanical knowledge and experience; a relevant trade qualification is essential.
Primary responsibilities include managing and executing the service schedule for a predominantly John Deere fleet, alongside a diverse range of farm equipment and vehicles. Given the modern nature of the fleet, including units under warranty, you will coordinate with local dealerships for specialised servicing, parts procurement, and diagnostic support. Notably, the maintenance and servicing of a modern fleet of Kenworth trucks represents a significant portion of this position.
Adding to the diversity of this role, the successful candidate may at times be encouraged to assist with daily machinery operations, an understanding of the cropping cycles and previous operational experience would be looked upon favourably.
While works are undertaken in the workshop where possible, some in-paddock maintenance and repair will also be required. You will be adaptable and have strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Record keeping is also a key element of the role, as you are responsible for scheduling, part requisitions, and inventory.
The workshop is well-equipped with a truck hoist, plasma cutter, folder, drive-thru hoist, Tig, MIG, and a lathe, amongst a quality array of tools.
The Offer
A salary commensurate with the successful applicant's skills and experience will be negotiated as part of a package that includes a work vehicle and a comfortable three-bedroom home.
The area offers a great local community with access to schools, sporting clubs, and social events. Hillston is located an hour away from Griffith with access to all major supermarkets and services.
The Ideal Candidate
Knowledgeable and experienced in large-machinery mechanics; it is not essential to have a farming background, but it would be highly desirable. You will be organised, have an attention to detail and the following:
- Fabrication skills
- Adaptability
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Detailed record-keeping skills
- MC or other truck licence (advantageous)
- Trade qualification essential
