Primary objective
Provide high-level, client-focussed generalist and specialised Human Resource Management advice and support to Northern
Territory Public Sector agencies and employees.
Context statement
Workforce Services are delivered to client agencies under a centralised services model across a geographically and culturally diverse
environment. The Workforce Operations and Partnerships team provides workforce business partner, recruitment and
employment services and general HR support to client agencies. This role is based within the recruitment advisory team and
provides advice, support and guidance to client agencies in regard to best practice recruitment and selection solutions.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. As a lead Workforce Services resource, work closely with the senior officers to provide a responsive high quality workforce
relations advisory service and end to end support to assist client agencies manage their recruitment activities.
2. Work collaboratively across Workforce Services with client agency staff to ensure compliance with Northern Territory Public
Sector (NTPS) and agency policies, standards, practices, delegations.
3. Participate or lead HR projects to review, develop and implement policies, procedures, standards, systems and processes to
support effective and consistent Workforce Services service delivery.
4. Research, collate and analyse information from a variety of sources to prepare correspondence and provide high quality,
effective and timely workforce relations responses and advice.
5. Undertake case management activities relating to redeployment, if required.
6. Build and maintain key relationships and work closely with team members to exchange information, resolve issues, and provide
mentoring, support and training to foster a collaborative, effective environment.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience and contemporary knowledge of operational HR management and experience case managing HR
and/or recruitment matters.
2. High-level communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills with the ability to establish collaborative relationships at all
levels and across diverse cultures to positively influence human resource practices.
3. Demonstrated planning, problem solving and organisational skills, including effective management of multiple high priority tasks
to meet conflicting deadlines.
4. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply employment legislation, policies and contemporary human resource management
practices across a range of diverse areas.
5. Well-developed written skills and the ability to research and analyse information for preparing a range of high-level
correspondence and documents.
6. Demonstrated leadership skills to effectively guide, train and mentor team members.
7. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of commitment to service, innovation, ethical practice,
accountability, impartiality, diversity and respect.
Desirable
1. Good working knowledge of the Public Sector Employment and Management Act and the NTPS recruitment and selection process
or similar and HR Management systems.
2. Relevant tertiary qualifications in human resources or a related field.
