What you'll be doing
The RPA Hospital Electrophysiology Fellowship program has been designed to further increase the skills and knowledge of candidates in clinical and basic electrophysiology.
Candidates will be trained in:
- Techniques of femoral artery and femoral vein puncture, the passage of catheters and radiological techniques.
- Procedures to maximise the safety of electrophysiological studies, catheter ablation and cardiac device implantation.
- Electrocardiography and electrogram measurements and interpretation.
- Principles of patient selection, preparation and after care in both inpatient and non-inpatient settings.
- Performing electrophysiology studies on selected patients as the primary operator under the direction of senior electrophysiologist/cardiologist.
- Assisting senior electrophysiologists/cardiologists with catheter ablations and techniques of patient selection, implantation and management of implantable defibrillators and pacemakers.
