What we are looking for:
The Officer Field Operations and Contract Delivery is an operational role responsible for helping deliver Transport and Main Roads (TMR) contracts within Gympie Regional Council (GRC), including the Routine Maintenance Performance Contract (RMPC) and other associated projects. The role undertakes scoping of maintenance activities, road inspections, contractor supervision, auditing, customer communication, and procurement activities. These works will be completed both autonomously, and in collaboration with TMR staff and GRC colleagues.
The position will also assist the coordinator as required, providing reliable support across operational, administrative, and field‑based activities to ensure the effective delivery of TMR contract obligations. This includes contributing to the contractual preparation process by supplying accurate quantities, validated field data, and supporting evidence needed for a compliant and timely forward list of works and claim submissions. The role requires a good level of IT proficiency and experience using asset management systems, enabling accurate data entry, digital workflow management, and high‑quality reporting to support both operational and contractual requirements.
Essential Knowledge & Skills:
- Practical knowledge of industry is best practices for maintenance treatment selection, workflow and work practice including strategy, costings, scheduling, programming and timing.
- Good level of computer literacy and experience in using handheld and computer devices.
- Practical experience in supervision and management of civil works contracts.
- Demonstrated experience in industry best practise road maintenance activities.
- Understanding of quality assurance in civil work.
- Understanding of road materials and production.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Traffic Management Implementations – Level 2.
- Cert III in Civil Construction or ability to obtain.
- C Class Drivers licence or above that is current and maintained
- Construction Industry White/Blue Card
Essential Requirements:
- Supervision and management of contractors to ensure compliance with program of works and specifications.
- Prepare procurement documentation for external contractor pricing, review of contractor responses prior to engagement for works.
- Accurately identify defects and required treatments based on TMR standards.
- Scope maintenance works and prepare forward planning information.
- Conduct audits during work activities, on completed works, and safety compliance.
- Provide technical support to the Operations Roads and Drainage team and support the ongoing implementation of a mobile computing solution.
- Investigate customer requests through the Customer Request Management (CRM) System and respond to customer enquiries where required.
- Conduct routine, reactive, and targeted inspections of the TMR network.
- Provide timely and effective assistance to the Coordinator by undertaking tasks and responsibilities as delegated to support the efficient delivery of TMR contract operations.
- Foster a positive relationship with all key stakeholders.
- Support and promote a positive and cooperative team environment.
- Maintain a positive organisational image which promotes good customer relations and maximises the provision of a high level of service to enhance the customer experience.
- General administrative tasks exercising sound judgement, initiative and confidentiality including an ongoing review of systems and processes within the unit as part of continuous improvement.
