Concord Emergency Department is seeking motivated ACEM Advanced Trainees (AT) to develop a unique skillset on our team.
The Hospital
Concord Repatriation General Hospital is proud of its healthcare service excellence and leadership in clinical care. The Department of Emergency Medicine
The Emergency department has 2 resus bays, 16 acute beds, a rapid access and fast track area and a new 5-bed ED short stay unit due for completion in late 2026. A high-end CT scanner has been installed adjacent to the resuscitation bays with a co-located radiology department.
Our department is a receiving centre for major burns, a primary PTCA centre for STEMI and is an acute stroke service referral centre. Our patient population is a cohort with complex medical conditions and high acuity presentations and a small proportion of paediatric attendances.
Concord ED is a major referral site and is accredited for 24 months of advanced ED training with Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM). We provide opportunities to get involved in research and quality assurance activities and encourage consolidating the practice of evidence-based medicine.
The role
As an ED AT you will be part of the dynamic team providing emergency care under the guidance of Emergency Consultants. We will provide you with the opportunity to develop a broad range of clinical skills in a well-supported environment to progress in your career in emergency medicine focussed on medical complexity and high acuity presentations.

- Weekly ED registrar teaching (5-hours paid protected time)
- Rotations to develop specialised skills in anaesthetics, intensive care, trauma at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, paediatrics (ED or ward) at Canterbury Hospital as well as ultrasound, burns and Geriatric Emergency Medicine (GEM) special skills terms
- Dedicated fellowship examination preparation program delivered by an enthusiastic team of consultants.

Burns (special skills term)
This unique ACEM accredited rotation consists of a 0.5 Burns and a 0.5 ED component over a 6-month term. It is the only one of its kind in Australia! The ED burns registrar is integrated into the burns team and involved in all aspects of burns care. This provides opportunity to develop special clinical skills, teaching and quality improvement work.
Ultrasound (special skills term)
This rotation enables consolidation of advanced ultrasound skills under the guidance of dedicated supervisors. It is made up of a 0.5 ultrasound and a 0.5 ED component over a 6-month term. Trainees will be supported to accomplish accreditation in multiple CCU units and integrate ultrasound skills in practice.
Anaesthetics and ICU
There are 3-month terms available at CRGH for ICU and anaesthetics that would allow an advanced trainee to satisfy part of the critical care component of FACEM training.
