We pride ourselves on expert advice, top-tier customer service, and a wide range of industry-leading brands (STIHL, Honda, Toro, Victa, and more). We are looking for an energetic, hands-on Assistant Store Manager to help lead our team, drive sales, and maintain smooth day-to-day operations.
The Role
As the Assistant Store Manager, you will work closely alongside the Store Manager to lead the retail team, support workshop operations, and deliver exceptional service to our trade and retail customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Support the Store Manager in supervising, motivating, and scheduling retail and service staff.
- Customer Excellence: Greet customers, provide expert advice on power equipment and spare parts, and resolve inquiries efficiently.
- Store Operations: Oversee daily open/close procedures, inventory control, stock replenishment, and visual merchandising.
- Sales & Quoting: Assist retail shoppers and commercial clients with equipment sales, quotes, and finance processing.
- Service Counter Support: Manage incoming repairs, liaise with workshop technicians, and update customers on job status.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop floor and workshop intake area.
About You
We are looking for a reliable, practical leader who thrives in a fast-paced retail or trade environment.
Requirements & Skills:
- Experience: 2+ years in a supervisory or senior sales role within retail, trade counters, hardware, automotive, or power equipment.
- Technical Aptitude: Knowledge of outdoor power equipment, small engines, or trade tools is highly regarded (though full training will be provided).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong customer service instincts.
- Leadership Style: Hands-on, approachable, and proactive. You aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves during busy periods.
- Tech Savvy: Comfortable using POS systems, inventory management software, and MS Office.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to handle and move light to medium machinery when required.
Hours & Availability
- Type: Full-Time
- Location: Kingston Mowers at 303 Warrigal Rd, Cheltenham 3192
- Schedule: Tuesday to Saturday (Tuesday to Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturday 8.30am to 4pm; Sundays and Mondays off).
