About the Role
Reporting to the Practice Manager, you will manage a diverse client portfolio, providing accounting systems and services relating to the financial dealings of organizations and individuals, with a focus on financial reporting, business advisory, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities;
- Prepare financial statements for presentation to business owners, management, and governing bodies
- Assist in formulating budgetary and accounting policies for client businesses
- Conduct financial investigations and prepare reports, including advice on matters such as the purchase and sale of businesses, mergers, capital financing, and insolvency
- Introduce and maintain accounting systems, including advising on selection and use of computer-based accounting software
- Review payroll compliance and accounts receivable/payable processes to support accurate financial reporting for clients
- Prepare individual, company, trust, partnership and SMSF income tax returns
- Liaise with clients to obtain financial information and provide accounting advice
- Correspond with the ATO and other government agencies on behalf of clients
- Maintain accurate client records in line with Australian accounting standards and statutory requirements
Skills & Experience;
- Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in accounting
- Minimum 3 years' experience in Australian public practice accounting
- Demonstrated experience preparing financial statements, budgets, and business advisory reports
- Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and financial reporting requirements
- Experience using Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- CA, CPA, or progress towards one of these qualifications highly regarded
- Tax Agent registration preferred, but not essential
- Additional community language skills highly regarded, given our diverse client base
What We Offer
- $80,000 – $87,000 per annum + superannuation, depending on experience
