We’ve been proudly serving Australian communities since 1914 and have grown to become a top 30-listed company on the ASX with a portfolio of iconic homegrown brands. At the heart of our continued success is over 115,000 team members working across the country, all contributing to bringing our customers smiles. You’ll not only get to see your work make a difference, you’ll be part of a team working together to help Australians eat and live better every day.
Our Sustainability team is working together to create a better future for all Australians. Together, we’re focused on making a positive difference through our three strategic pillars of climate, nature and circularity. These areas align with our most material issues and stakeholder expectations and are the areas we aim to have the most significant impact. We’re also committed to supporting human rights, diversity and inclusion, health, safety and wellbeing, community support, and providing healthy, safe and affordable food. Together, we’re making sustainability part of everything we do at Coles.
We are looking for a highly capable Climate Project Manager to support the coordination and delivery of Coles' climate strategy, commitments and targets. This role is central to keeping climate programs and initiatives on track, maintaining visibility of progress, risks and dependencies, and helping translate climate priorities into practical business action.
Reporting to the Head of Climate Strategy within the Sustainability team, you will work across a broad stakeholder network to support program coordination, governance, disclosure readiness and reporting. You will help ensure climate commitments are supported by clear actions, owners, milestones and decision points.
This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in how climate strategy is delivered at scale across Coles, supporting strong governance, helping embed climate considerations into commercial decision-making and contributing to meaningful, long-term impact.
You’ll also:
-
Coordinate and track delivery of climate programs, commitments, milestones and actions across the business
-
Support governance and reporting processes, including senior leadership, Board and committee reporting
-
Partner cross-functionally to embed climate considerations into strategy, finance, risk, operations and planning
-
Monitor risks, dependencies and delivery challenges, escalating key issues where required
-
Drive program structure, tracking, and governance to maintain momentum and accountability
-
Translate climate priorities into practical business actions across stakeholders
-
Build strong relationships across commercial, finance, risk, legal, strategy and operational teams
You are a commercially minded climate professional with a strong project or program management background, comfortable operating in complex organisations and influencing senior stakeholders. You thrive in ambiguity, absorb information quickly, and excel at connecting climate priorities to real business outcomes.
With a proven experience working with greenhouse gas accounting frameworks and climate reporting requirements, you bring both technical credibility and the ability to drive enterprise-wide change, ensuring climate is embedded into how decisions are made across the business.
You’ll also ideally have:
-
Exposure to climate strategy, climate transition planning, climate risk and opportunities, sustainability disclosure or climate reporting requirements
-
Proven background in large, complex organisations with the ability to influence at all levels – retail/FMCG, consultancy, or supplier preferred
-
Demonstrated program/project management capability, including the ability to manage actions, ownership, timeframes and escalation points
-
Ability to set up and manage structured programs with clear actions, ownership and reporting
-
Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across senior and cross-functional teams
-
Strong written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear updates, governance papers and reporting inputs
-
Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect climate priorities to business planning and decision-making
