The Unaccredited Trainee Cardiology position is suitable for applicants wishing to obtain further critical care management and advanced cardiac care in preparation for a career in Cardiology.

This position offers an opportunity for one year of training in a contemporary setting supported by the latest equipment at a state-of-the-art Level 5 facility.
Training includes echocardiography (TTE, TSE, TOE), advanced cardiac imaging (CTCA, CMR), invasive procedures (temporary pacing wires, pericardiocentesis, angiography, devices) and outpatient clinics. A dedicated consultant-led teaching program will ensure that the successful candidate will develop a broad range of skills in clinical Cardiology.
The role will involve supervision of junior cardiac trainees and JMOs and oversee the daily clinical management of our Coronary Care Unit.
There is an expectation that this position will contribute to the after-hours rosters.
The successful candidate will be expected to admit patients from the emergency department to the Coronary Care Unit and participate in management plans as deemed appropriate by the admitting Cardiologist.
The Trainee will be supervised by senior medical staff to ensure their responsibilities are commensurate with their clinical experience. The Clinical Director or their delegate will conduct the mid-term and end-of-term assessments and provide feedback where appropriate

Northern Beaches Hospital provides world-class, Level 5 delineation services for both public and private patients. The hospital features 486 beds, 50-bed Emergency Department, 20-bed general and cardiothoracic ICU, 14 fully equipped theatres, including hybrid theatres, two cardiac catheter labs, extensive digital imaging / diagnostic facilities, medical centre collocated with ED, state of the art education and interactive SIM centre and a Helipad for Emergency Transport.
The Northern Beaches Hospital provides a high standard of education and training, with dedicated supervisors, teachers and a JMO Unit that supports all activities related to rostering, training, education and welfare of junior doctors.
On level 4 of the 9-storey hospital is the Education Centre where doctors can access a range of facilities. These include the latest technology for teaching, simulation and presentations, plus various meeting rooms and conference areas.
There is capability to stream education sessions to/from other facilities, as well as within the hospital for the simulation rooms and theatres.
