Lead student voice, advocacy and wellbeing services that protect rights and strengthen inclusion across the student experience.
The Opportunity
You will provide strategic leadership for WSUSU’s student voice, advocacy, equity and wellbeing functions, ensuring students are supported, heard and represented across the University. The role leads services that protect student rights, respond to complex and sensitive matters, and address practical barriers to student success.
You will advise the CEO on emerging issues and trends affecting students, including advocacy, wellbeing, inclusion and sexual violence. You will lead and develop a multidisciplinary team, monitor service effectiveness and implement improvements informed by student feedback, data and research.
You will oversee trauma‑informed advocacy and support pathways, student wellbeing initiatives such as food security and emergency relief programs, and the effective operation of student representative structures. You will build strong relationships with students, University stakeholders and external partners to influence policy, strengthen services and advance equity and social justice outcomes.

About You

Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Law, Social Sciences, Community Development, Education or a related field.

Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams in student services, community services or advocacy contexts.

Strong communication skills with the ability to manage complex, sensitive matters with confidentiality and professionalism.

Experience working with student governance, advocacy or representative bodies.

Sound knowledge of trauma‑informed practice and a demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
