About the role:
As Media Manager, you will provide leadership, direction, supervision and support to one of the strategic media teams at Victoria Police. This team is responsible for providing media advice to members across the state on a range of issues, investigations and initiatives, as well as responding to media enquiries and coordinating press conferences and interviews.
In addition to managing a team of advisors, you will deliver high level briefings to Victoria Police's executive and senior leadership, liaise with journalists on a regular basis and lead cross-departmental projects as required.
We are looking for a modern and strategic thinker who has a strong sense of the issues currently facing Victoria Police, can manage high pressure situations and difficult stakeholders, has strong relationships with journalists throughout the state, is a team-player and remains calm under pressure.
You will have excellent stakeholder and people management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects at once – often with short deadlines. The successful applicant will be an experienced and influential leader, not only within their own team but across their organisation.

Your duties will include:
- Management of one of our strategic media teams;

Performance management and professional development of the team;

Developing, updating, overseeing and approving media strategies and materials;

Providing high-level media advice to members across all ranks and developing media responses on a range of issues and operations;

Preparing media briefings for senior leadership on key issues and news of the day;

Working with other managers across the department to share information and collaborate on a range of projects.
About You:
The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
-
A demonstrated record of achievement at a senior level in managing the development, implementation and delivery of media strategies within a large, complex environment within tight timeframes.

Proven experience as a media professional working with senior managers and staff at all levels of an organisation to promote new initiatives, manage high-profile issues and enhance organisational reputation.

Demonstrated experience working in diverse and dynamic environments.

Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to gain cooperation and achieve realistic outcomes.

Highly developed analytical, conceptual, written communication and presentation skills, including the ability to tailor messages to the needs and interests of the audience.

Proven ability to monitor client and stakeholder satisfaction and constructively manage stakeholder issues to ensure positive outcomes for the stakeholder and the organisation.

Successful candidates will be required to possess a current Victorian Driver Licence and hold or qualify for an appropriate Victoria Police driving authority within three (3) months.

One (1) x full-time, fixed term position available for 12 months from start date.

This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
