The Roles
The Director Therapeutic Residential Care and Director Secure Care positions are responsible for managing the Department’s therapeutic care houses and facilities to ensure the care needs of vulnerable children and young people are met within a therapeutic environment. This will include the development, implementation and monitoring of consistent policies and practices to ensure that best practice standards in therapeutic care are met, the voice of children is implemented into operational practice, and processes of continual improvement are prioritised.
The roles are responsible for:
- Developing and contributing to operational frameworks for Therapeutic Care that ensures the best interests of children and young people.
- Providing a high level of operational advice on Therapeutic Care that is timely, accurate, comprehensive and identifies the risks and develops strategies to address them.
- Assisting the Statewide Director Therapeutic Care in the management of the team to deliver the outcomes of Therapeutic Care and maintains partnerships with non-government agencies to work together to produce improved outcomes for children and families.
- Contributes to the operational implementation of government and Department policies and programmes, and their review and monitoring.
- Providing advice on relevant trends and issues in relation to national and international trends relating to Therapeutic Care.

The Opportunities
We are looking to establish a pool of suitable applicants to be considered for future temporary or permanent opportunities that may arise in the Director positions in Therapeutic Residential Care, and the Director position in Secure Care over the next 18 months.
About Therapeutic Residential Care: The Department provides therapeutic residential care in 25 houses across WA that care for children with a range of ages and care needs. Therapeutic care is provided in these houses by trained workers who undertake shifts using a rotating roster model. The team works to achieve therapeutic gains for children and young people.
About Secure Care: The Kath French Secure Care Centre (Secure Care) in Stoneville provides short-term intensive therapeutic care to vulnerable children who are presenting with high-risk behaviours. Part of this care occurs in a secured facility, with an additional step down service that extends this intensive therapeutic support into a community-based service. The team is committed to providing children with safe, trauma informed, therapeutic care during their stay.

Qualification Requirements
You must have a Bachelors degree in Social Work, Psychology or relevant human services area to be eligible for this position. All overseas qualifications must also be assessed for Australian equivalency.
