For more than 65 years, we have been supplying premium seafood to homes, restaurants and hospitality venues across Victoria. Our Richmond location combines a busy retail seafood store with our restaurant and takeaway operations, offering customers a wide range of fresh fish, oysters, shellfish and other premium seafood products.
We are seeking an experienced Retail Manager to lead our retail team and oversee the day-to-day operation of our retail seafood store.
About the role
This is a full-time, hands-on Retail Manager position within our busy retail seafood store.
You will work closely with management, fishmongers, retail staff and suppliers to organise and control the day-to-day operation of the store, maintain high standards of customer service, manage purchasing and stock, and support the continued growth of the retail business.
Your duties will include:
· Organising and controlling the day-to-day operation of the retail seafood store.
· Determining product range, stock levels and customer service standards.
· Formulating and implementing purchasing, sales and promotional strategies.
· Managing the purchasing and ordering of seafood products and other retail supplies.
· Setting and reviewing retail prices in consultation with management.
· Promoting the store's products and services through in-store merchandising and promotional activities.
· Selling seafood products to customers and providing advice on product selection, storage and preparation.
· Monitoring stock levels, stock rotation and product quality to minimise wastage.
· Maintaining records of stock levels, sales and financial transactions.
· Assisting with budgeting and monitoring sales performance, operating costs and store profitability.
· Planning staff rosters and allocating daily duties.
· Selecting, supervising, training and supporting retail staff.
· Ensuring compliance with food safety, workplace health and safety and hygiene requirements.
· Maintaining a clean, organised and well-presented retail environment.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
· A Diploma level or higher qualification in hospitality management or a related field.
· At least one year of relevant experience working in a retail management or supervisory role.
· At least three years of relevant retail management experience may substitute for the formal qualification.
· Experience managing the day-to-day operation of a retail business.
· Experience with purchasing, stock control, pricing and supplier management.
· Strong customer service and communication skills.
· Experience supervising, training and supporting staff.
· Sound organisational, leadership and problem-solving skills.
· Experience maintaining sales, stock and financial records.
· Experience working in seafood, fresh food, hospitality or another food retail environment will be highly regarded.
· You must be available to work a flexible roster, including weekends and public holidays as required.
