The Opportunity
You'll be responsible to deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality lifecycle services for high voltage equipment by ensuring optimal performance from installation through to end-of-life. Through technical expertise, proactive maintenance, and customer-focused execution, the role supports the continuous operation, efficiency, and sustainability of power systems while upholding the highest standards of safety, innovation, and service excellence aligned with Hitachi Energy’s portfolio.
How you’ll make an impact
- You will build hands-on capability in high-voltage AIS/GIS equipment through structured technical, safety, classroom, online, and practical certification programs.
- You will work under the guidance of senior technicians and engineers to develop competency in installation, assembly, inspection, maintenance, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair activities.
- You will assist with the installation and assembly of Air-Insulated Switchgear (AIS) and Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) equipment at customer sites and workshop environments.
- You will support pre-commissioning activities, including mechanical checks, alignment, SF₆ gas handling preparation, cable terminations, auxiliary wiring, functional testing, and energization support.
- You will participate in routine inspection and preventive maintenance tasks such as visual condition checks, gas density monitoring, leak detection assistance, cleaning, lubrication, and mechanical adjustments.
- You will support senior technicians in diagnosing faults, troubleshooting AIS/GIS equipment, replacing components, performing adjustments, and responding to breakdown situations.
- You will safely use electrical and mechanical tools and assist with the setup and operation of test equipment while following all site safety requirements and supervised work practices.
- You will develop practical knowledge in electrical testing, circuit breaker analysis, timing and diagnostic testing, and basic protection and control verification to progress toward becoming a qualified HV field service technician.
Your Background
- A-Grade Electrician
- Strong understanding of electrical fundamentals and safe work practices
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to obtain site clearances and certification.
- Open to extensive domestic/international travel to customer's sites including remote areas.
- Experience w orking in outdoor and high voltage environments.
