About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Compliance & Audit Coordinator to join our team in Canberra. This role takes ownership of day-to-day compliance monitoring and audit preparation. While this role carries independent responsibility, we value potential, adaptability, and strong organizational skills. Candidates with a solid foundation in administration, risk support, or corporate governance who are eager to quickly scale up their technical skills are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
Ownership: Manage and streamline day-to-day compliance tracking, keeping internal registers up to date and monitoring policy schedules.
Collaboration: Act as a key point of contact for internal teams and external auditors, helping to gather documentation, schedule reviews, and coordinate audit timelines.
Problem Solving: Identify operational bottlenecks, flag potential compliance gaps early, and proactively suggest practical updates to streamline internal controls.
Data & Reporting: Maintain accurate audit records, verify documentation accuracy, and prepare baseline compliance reports and summaries for senior leadership.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: 1–3 years of experience in an administrative, legal support, audit, or compliance-adjacent role. (Candidates with slightly less experience who pick up frameworks quickly will be considered).
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to confidently request documentation from various teams and explain policy requirements clearly.
Technical Skills: Comfort learning new software platforms quickly. Previous experience with document management systems, audit software, or advanced Microsoft Excel is highly regarded but not required.
Problem Solving: A resourceful, proactive mindset with high attention to detail and the ability to review records and manage workflows independently.
Education: A degree or diploma in Business, Law, Finance, Public Administration, or equivalent practical work experience.
