The overall purpose of the Diversional Therapist is to provide diversional and recreational activities that promote the psychological, social, physical and spiritual well-being of residents.
The Diversional Therapist is also responsible for ensuring that the residents attain and maintain an optimal level of individual physical and cognitive function. The Diversional Therapist may be responsible for a team of Activities staff to assist with the delivery of the program.
We are looking for an individual who has:
- Experience in designing and conducting activity programs/therapy, diversional therapy and recreations
- Previous/recent experience in an Aged Care or Dementia Program and care of the elderly
- Ability to work and communicate effectively within a team
- Commitment to continuously upgrading skills, knowledge and competencies
- Demonstrated ability to interpret written and verbal instructions and policies and procedures
Mandatory qualifications/requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in Diversional Therapy or equivalent
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- A current National Police Certificate OR NDIS Clearance/Yellow Card
- Full or Associate Membership of Diversional Therapy Association of Queensland
