Primary objective
Assist with provision of high quality and professional business service support and financial management services to staff,
clients and custodians.
Context statement
The Aboriginal Areas Protection Authority is an independent statutory Authority established by the NTASSA, designed to
effect a practical balance between the recognised need to preserve and enhance Aboriginal cultural tradition in relation to
certain land in the Territory and the aspirations of Aboriginal and all other peoples of the Territory for their economic, cultural
and social advancement by providing advice on the protection of sacred sites in the context of development.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide financial management support to all business units within the Authority in all financial matters such as
payments, procurement, invoicing clients, tracking revenue and debtor management while maintaining compliance with
relevant Directions and Legislation.
2. Undertake a range of administrative support functions such as logistical support including travel and charter bookings,
fleet management and office services.
3. Assist in the co-ordination and financial requirements related to Authority Board meetings, end of month and end of
year processes.
4. Continually monitor, evaluate, and refine administrative processes and procedures to ensure increased efficiency and
education to staff.
5. Undertake projects and other support requirements as directed.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in providing exceptional corporate services support including complex logistical
arrangements, fleet management, and office services
2. Demonstrated experience and accuracy in financial management including the preparation of journals, monthly
reconciliations, payments, invoicing, debt management and procurement.
3. Well-developed computer literacy skills to use a range of IT software, computerised reporting systems, document
management systems and mainframe packages.
4. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a diverse range of people including traditional Aboriginal
Custodians, Elders and Traditional Owners, professionals such as anthropologists, legal professionals and corporation
directors.
5. Well developed organisational skills to balance day to day priorities, manage competing tasks and high workloads.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of Government systems such as; NTGPay, Expense8, TRIPS, TRIM, BOXI-Finance and GAS or equivalent
systems or the ability to quickly acquire and apply such knowledge.
2. Hold a current manual NT Driver’s License and be confident driving a large manual vehicle
