Chef – Café Gusto Botany
Café Gusto is a multifaceted venue located in a leafy, pond-side business park in the heart of Botany. We operate as a busy café Monday to Friday, with a strong focus on café trade, corporate catering, and events.
We are looking for an experienced Chef to join our team in a Monday to Friday role, offering a great work-life balance with no regular weekend work required.
The Position
Café Gusto operates across café, catering, and events, with the café open Monday to Friday from 6am to 5pm. Our food style is modern Australian, influenced by our European background, while also drawing inspiration from a wide range of cuisines.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for fresh, creative food and the ability to produce high-quality daily menus. You will be responsible for managing the café menu, preparing the daily menu to a high standard, and helping create weekly chef’s cabinet specials.
Our chef’s cabinet changes regularly and may include anything from Italian and Middle Eastern dishes through to South East Asian-inspired items. This is a great opportunity for a chef who enjoys variety, creativity, and showcasing their skills.
You will work alongside our current kitchen team while also helping manage, mentor, and guide junior staff in the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
Duties Will Include
- Managing and preparing the café menu daily to a high standard
- Creating weekly chef’s cabinet menus and specials
- Working with the kitchen team to produce consistent, high-quality food
- Assisting with corporate catering and occasional event preparation
- Guiding and mentoring junior kitchen staff
- Ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly, cleanly, and efficiently
- Maintaining strong food presentation and quality control
- Bringing creativity, passion, and consistency to the menu
Requirements and Skills
- 5+ years’ experience as a Chef
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery
- Strong technical cooking skills
- Experience managing a busy kitchen or pass section
- Ability to oversee dishes before they leave the kitchen
- Excellent time management and organisation skills
- Clean, organised, and professional approach
- Strong communication and team leadership skills
- Experience across café, catering, and events will be highly regarded

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 – $72,000.00 per year
