About us
Laneway Espresso is a busy specialty coffee café in the heart of Dickson. We take our coffee seriously, look after our regulars, and run a tight, friendly team that genuinely enjoys the work.
The role
We're after an experienced barista to join us on a casual basis. You'll be on the machine through service — dialling in grinders, texturing milk, and turning out consistent espresso — while delivering warm, genuine customer service and pitching in on food prep across the day. This role has a clear path to a management position for the right person.
What you'll be doing
- Delivering warm, friendly customer service and building rapport with our regulars
- Producing consistent, high-quality espresso-based coffee at volume
- Dialling in and adjusting grinders throughout the day, with strong milk work and latte art
- Fast, friendly service and accurate order-taking on POS
- Toasting sandwiches and handling food prep as needed
- Keeping the coffee station and café clean, stocked and organised
- Backing up the wider team during peak periods
What we're looking for
- Proven barista experience in a high-volume café (1+ year preferred)
- Genuinely strong customer service — friendly, warm and switched-on
- Confident dialling in grinders and holding consistency across a shift
- Strong milk work and latte art
- Comfortable with basic food prep and toasting
- Calm, fast and reliable under pressure
- Availability across weekdays and weekends, including early mornings
- A food safety / food handler certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
